Why are apologies important? In this situation, what impact does the apology have on the colonized (Aboriginals) as well as the colonizers?
An apology is a self-reflection on the things he/she has done, and therefore, admitting that they were wrong. An apology is important in some situations because it can turn negative relationships in to positives. Not necessarily, but sometimes, an apology can make a big difference or changes to a country. In this case, when the prime minister of Australia apologizes to the stolen generation.
When the Australia government finally apologized for the mistreatment of the stolen generations, there were some major changes.
The blacks, (stolen generations)'s population is expected to rise after the constant decrease in population during the time of stolen generation. The blacks' hatred for doing such things, will now calm down and maybe they will accept their apologies. With the prime minister's apology, representing the voice of australian citizen, the child abuses stopped which means the life of abologines can improve as time passes.
